Alexandra Lopez Iglesias is a Los Angeles and Tucson-based artist, originally from Ciudad Juárez, México.
Her interest in materials became evident at age four when she would incessantly caress the the brick wall that lined her childhood home. Her small hands noticing the texture, ridges and imperfections of each individual piece while her gaze took in subtle color changes revealed by the indirect sunlight. This fascination with material properties and qualities, in conjunction with their hidden and encapsulated process, and the containment of past and present lives within, are still at the very essence of her work.
Alex holds a Bachelor of Architecture from the University of Arizona, an MFA in Interdisciplinary Design from the University of Texas at Austin, and a second MFA from the prestigious Art Center College of Design in Pasadena, California.
